A blend of creative and technical skills fuels Sonya’s writing. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, she has always been surrounded by the beauty of music and the written word. Sonya holds a master’s degree in English Literature where her interdisciplinary thesis combined these two loves by focusing on poetry set to music. While her piano playing was proficient in its day, her singing voice is undeniably less impressive! But that hasn’t stopped her from joining multiple choirs throughout her life, exploring this alternative facet of music.

With a background in proposal and strategy writing, reporting, editing, and communication, Sonya has years of experience in crafting clear, compelling messages that bring ideas to life. Her recent experience in the healthcare sector has honed her ability to take the complex and make it transparent.

Beyond her professional persona, Sonya sees the world’s problems as her challenges to help fix. With years of volunteering experience ranging from teaching and mentoring in lower socioeconomic areas, to working as an emergency response medic, no cause escapes her care.

By combining her creative passion, technical expertise, and commitment to making a difference, Sonya is here and ready to bring her unique perspective and skills to the SASOLO network.
